Adult Swim Upfronts

  • New Shows:

    • Robot Chicken: Star Wars: This special brazenly combines the satirical sensibilities of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s Robot Chicken with the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the Star Wars universe—among them its creator himself, George Lucas, who lends his voice. Robot Chicken: Star Wars blends the epic stories of Star Wars and the anything-goes spirit of one of the network’s biggest hits. The force begins on June 17.
    • Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil: Lucy is living in San Francisco and dating a great new guy, who might just be the Second Coming. The only problem is that her dad always meddles in her life. And, since he’s Satan, he is using her relationship as an excuse to hasten the apocalypse. This previously announced series, created by Loren Bouchard, is set to debut this summer.
    • Fat Guy Stuck In Internet: When hot-shot programmer Ken Gemberling is accidentally sucked into the Internet, he finds himself on a quest of epic proportions. With the evil bounty hunter, Chains, hot on his heels, Gemberling must struggle to unravel the mysteries of this strange, new land and, indeed, his own destiny. Is he the new messiah or just another fat guy stuck in Internet? Created by John Gemberling and Curtis Gwinn, this live action comedy, originally a cult hit on the Internet, premieres this fall.
    • Superjail: Superjail is the most violent prison complex in the universe. The staff and inmates cower under the watchful eye of the mysterious Warden, who presides over them like a sadistic Willy Wonka. The psychedelic landscape of Superjail features dangerous criminals, fantastic creatures, bizarre contraptions and frequent riots. Created by Christy Karacas, Stephen Warbrick and Ben Gruber, The series is set to debut in 2008.

  • Returning Shows:

    • Moral Orel
    • Frisky Dingo
    • Robot Chicken
    • The Boondocks (apparently now set for this fall)
    • the last season of Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law
    • Metalocalypse
    • The Venture Brothers
    • Squidbillies
    • Assy McGee
    • Aqua Teen Hunger Force
    • Saul of the Molemen
    • Tim & Eric Awesome Show

Heroes DVD/HDDVD News

Props to Tvshowsondvd for the following news:

This news comes to us via Craig Byrne (of Herosite.net) and reader Nick Grugin. Craig recently attended the Heroes panel at Wizard World in LA where the panel revealed a few things about the show headed to DVD, and HD DVD (that's right, you'll be able to pick it up in HD!). Universal has cleared the 72 minute San Diego Comic Con pilot for DVD, which is very different from the version that aired on television. Wizard World talks about the possibility of including some short scenes showing what the characters have been up to during the hiatus, but this may not make it on the DVD set. Wizard World also talks about HD DVD allowing for more extras, but this isn't really correct since the HD versions of the episodes take up more room on the disc; we've seen other releases where the disc counts are the same with the DVD and HD DVD/Blu-ray releases (the larger HD episodes take up a proportional amount of room on the HD discs compared to DVDs).
I have no doubt Universal has some big plans for this set; the show is extremely popular, and the fans are expecting a lot when the set comes out later this year (before season 2 airs).

Piatech moves to Blogger Beta

As you can tell the site has had a little bit of an overhaul. This is because we've switched the site over to Blogger Beta. Expect new features to be coming to the blog soon thanks to this change.

Logitech Low Battery Notification Killer

I have a love/hate relationship w/ Logitech wireless mice. If you are using the mousepoint drivers for it and it also happens to be a model w/ a rechargable base station for the mouse, you can get the following warning when your batteries are low.

The batteries in the mouse are low. Place the mouse in the base station (receiver) to recharge them.
This "warning" pops up on your screen and won't go away until you close it.

Logitech Low Battery Notification Killer 0.1.0.7 is designed to fix this. It runs silently in the background (using only 384kb of RAM screenshot) waiting for this screen to open, then does the following:

  • Makes the warning screen completely transparent
  • Closes the warning screen

Also this program will automatically startup with Windows unless you install this registry patch: noautostart.reg.

McAfeeGUI

A little known fact is included in every McAfee SuperDAT is a free command line version of their virus scanning software. Why is this useful when products such as AVG and avast exist you ask. Neither one of these support being installed on Windows 2003 Server (at least w/o buying it that is).

My solution, create a GUI frontend for McAfee's command line virus scanner. So I present, drumroll please: McAfeeGUI 0.1.1.1 (applause rings out across the globe ;-)) (yes it really has gone through 12 code revisions already, don't ask).

Its a very simple gui thats adds a system tray icon w/ the following options for McAfee's command line virus scanner:

  • Start/Stop/Check Status of a Full System Scan (All drives/All Folders/All Folders)
  • Update your virus definitions
  • Update you SuperDAT (required to run)
  • View a log of all past virus scans

Post install instructions: (No longer needed the new version of the installer automatically does this for you)

  1. Run avscan.exe (Default location: C:\Program Files\SFF Tools\mcafeegui\avscan.exe)
  2. Choose Update\SuperDAT
  3. Choose Update\Definitions
  4. Run Scan (Scan\Start)

From then on you'll be able to run the software by running avscan.exe and running a scan.

Optional Features:

  • Scheduled System Scan (create a scheduled task for schedscan.exe)
  • Scheduled Virus Definitions Update (create a scheduled task for update.exe)

In order to work properly this software requires the following software:

Enjoy.
P.S. Justin this ones for you, thanks for the idea.

UPDATE 4/19/07: I create a new installer for the software. This installer will automatically download and install the latest SuperDAT and Virus Definitions once it has finished installing the software. I came to realize, why make the end user do this, when I can have the installer do it for you.
