FCC approves $87b AT&T- BellSouth merger: now what?

We all know this was coming the FCC & SEC have approved the $87 billion AT&T and Bell South merger leaving only four old fashioned telephone companies in the US. George Santayana's famous quote "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" sure seems to describe the current US Government. Don't they remember why the broke up AT&T in the first place?
