UPDATED: Each show is now linked to a list of available torrents for that show.
Don't know why, but I've been on a Weird Al kick lately. It's most likely due to Straight Outta Lynwood, bonus track here, being released. Here is Michael Jackson's "Black or White" video with new vocals done by "Weird Al" Yankovic for his ALTV special in the mid-90's
We'll not realy banned, put WB is asking anyone who hosts this trailer to pull it from their website. Watch it while you can.
With the fall season beginning to get underway, a common problem arises. When two or more (often three in my case) of your favorite TV shows air at the same time, how do you pick what to watch. Now sure you could record all of them with your quad tuner custom built HTPC, but how many of us really have on of these? Or you could record as many of your shows as possible with your dual turner dvr and let ted "record" the rest for you. Now you may be saying, "What the !$%# is ted?" Ted stands for torrent episode downloader. What you do is add a list of your favorite shows to ted, along with their corresponding RSS feeds (go to tvRSS.net for those) and what the next episode to air is. After that ted will periodically check the RSS feeds for any new episodes and download them once they're found. What makes this different for your bittorrent client's built in RSS reader is you won't accidentally download the same episode twice, and it will work with any major bittorrent client (see full list here).
P.S. this is great for those BBC shows like Dr. Who, Spooks, Sorted, and The IT Crowd which air in the US one year later than they air in the UK. That is if they even get aired in the US.
UPDATE: It appears ted will only autostart torrents using Azureus if it is already running. This doesn't include running in the system tray. Azureus need to be completely open.
This is a great site contain a bunch of useful script geared toward sys-admins. My favorite is a script called waNOCAPS which permanently disables the CAPS LOCK key.
Another great source for sys-admin scripts is the The Script Center Script Repository on Technet.

On a side note this article talks about running floppy boot disks off a USB drive.
The launch details for the Revolution have been announced. They're scattered all over the web right now, but I've posted a consolidation of information on the launch at Fission Mailed. Linked to in the title of this post.
"Even if you never change the menu order manually, your menu can soon become jumbled because new programs you install ordinarily place their shortcuts at the bottom of the menu. If you prefer to have your menus always sorted alphabetically, you can use a registry trick to force alphabetical sorts: remove permissions to the registry key that controls menu order.
Open Registry Editor and select HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder.
On the Edit menu, choose Permissions.
In the Permissions For MenuOrder dialog box, click Advanced.
In the Advanced Security Settings For MenuOrder dialog box, clear the "Inherit From Parent" check box.
In the Security dialog box that appears, click Copy.
Click OK to return to the Permissions For MenuOrder dialog box, and then clear the Full Control access control entry for your own account and for any security groups that you’re a member of, leaving the Read access control entry in place. "
I've never had problems with this trick, but others have reported problems with it

If you're like me you've installed some kind of image editing software on your pc only to find this disables XP's built in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default option for opening images. This is a real pain to restore (I've been trying to fine a way for the last year). Then I stumbled across this little (~21kb) app which will not only restore the default file type associations for all images but also change the image editor which is launch from the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Finally Gimp and Windows Picture and Fax Viewer can ive togethor in peace

So I received a e-mail from Cox the other day asking me to take a customer satisfaction survey. I thought why not. But when I got to the following question (see screenshot below) I couldn't help but break out laughing.
Last time I checked FTP only works to transfer files between multiple sites online, not to create websites. That's what Notepad is for.
If your like me your thumbdrive contains a varitey of portable apps. Wouldn't it be nice to have them all available via Autorun? If you like this idea check out http://www.pegtop.de/start/
PStart works by allowing the following:
PStart uses relative paths, when installed as a portable application. If your USB key drive gets another drive letter when you insert it into another computer, your portable applications still can be started properly. This means you can also use PStart to start applications you burn to a CD (and don't know the drive letter either).
It's amazing what you can find online these days. Here a list of various site that make getting your entertainment fix easier

"As some 2.71 PSP’s say hello to the world, others will be saying goodbye at the same time as a downgrader has been released just a few moments ago!!
For this one occasion, I grant you permission to jump on your computer’s desk; jumping up and down until you have broken your desk. The reason for such a command is that after you have done it you probably won’t care about the desk, as you have just read that a 2.71 downdater (downgrader) has now been made available! Yes, that’s right – all you 2.71 owners (who do not have a TA-082 motherboard) will be able to downgrade your PSP to firmware 1.50."
